The Haven
Counseling Services

Silverdale Baptist Academy is now offering counseling services through the Counseling Services department called The Haven. Counseling Services are available, free of charge, to all students. This is a voluntary program designed to meet your child’s social, emotional, and behavioral needs. There is no cost for these services.

Students can be referred for counseling services by parents/guardians, school personnel, or refer themselves (middle school & high school only). The Counseling Services department is comprised of MyChelle Pinkerton and Lori Neal. Mrs. Pinkerton is a Marriage & Family Therapist licensed in the state of Tennessee. Mrs. Neal is a pre-licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. Our goal is to work with you in order to offer support and recommendations to your son/daughter.

What's New?

Being Equipped

October, 2022 - There is so much in this world that wants to tell your children who they are - what they can and cannot be. For this reason, the Counseling Services department will present to the high school helpful tips for staying well. We will cover signs to look for, how to care for self, and when to ask for help. In covering depression and depressive-like symptoms, we would be remiss if we didn’t also cover self-harm and suicide. Our desire is for our students to be well informed so that if they are ever faced with a situation, they will know exactly what to do/how to navigate it. We want to equip them with strategies to use God’s Word to battle against negative thought patterns.

Culture of Intentionality

October, 2022 - This school year, Mrs. Hansard has charged the faculty and staff to be fierce in protecting the culture of SBA. Our culture is one of intentionality - we are intentional about partnering with families to raise up Godly warriors for HIS kingdom and HIS purposes. Purposeful intentionality includes not shying away from uncomfortable topics and difficult conversations. Depression, self-harm practices, and suicidality can be difficult topics to discuss with your teens. It can be heart-wrenching to allow yourself to think your teen is struggling with any of these behaviors/issues. We are entering a time of year when depressive symptoms tend to increase due to the busyness of schedules and the decrease of sunlight.

The Haven Helpline

Students can send texts or leave a voice message with The Haven Helpline, and communication will be returned within 12 hours. Please share this number with your children if age-appropriate. We strive to partner with you in every aspect of your child’s journey. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to us.
