Signs & Symptoms of COVID-19

These symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure.

  • Cough

  • Fever

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Chills

  • Muscle pain/aches

  • Sore throat

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • headache

If you develop emergency warning signs for COVID-19 get medical attention immediately. Emergency warning signs include*:

    • Trouble breathing

    • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest

    • New confusion or inability to arouse

    • Bluish lips or face

People may be sick with the virus for 2 to 14 days before developing symptoms. The most common symptoms of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) are fever, tiredness, and dry cough.

More rarely, the disease can be serious and even fatal. Older people, and people with other medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease), may be more vulnerable to becoming severely ill.
